There are several registration periods for families applying for seats in September 2009.  To improve your chances of being assigned to a school of your choice, apply during the earliest registration period for your child’s grade.

First registration period

Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 9

January 5, 2009 - February 6, 2009

For students entering Kindergarten (K0 for 3-year-olds, K1 for four-year-olds, K2 for five-year-olds), and students entering Grade 6 or 9.  NOTE: Grade 1 registration is no longer part of the first registration period.  Families seeking an assignment to any of these grades -- including new-to-BPS and transfer requests -- should register during this period.

To avoid long lines, we recommend the following schedule for registering during the first registration period.  Visit a Family Resource Center based on the first initial of the parent's last name:

• A - I, January 5 – 9, 2009
• J - Q, January 12 – 16, 2009
• R - Z, January 20 – 23, 2009
• Open to all, January 26 – February 6, 2009

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in mid-March.

Second registration period

All grades: Kindergarten through Grade 12

February 11, 2009 - March 20, 2009

For students entering any grade, Kindergarten  through Grade 12.  

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in late April.

Third registration period

All grades: Kindergarten through Grade 12

March 23, 2009 - May 1, 2009

For students entering any grade, Kindergarten  through Grade 12.  

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in early June.

Fourth registration period

All grades: Kindergarten through Grade 12

May 4, 2009 - June 5, 2009

For students entering any grade, Kindergarten  through Grade 12.  

Assignment notices for students registered during this period are mailed to families' homes in early July.
