School Complex:
South Boston Education Complex Important Update, December, 2010:
Monument High School and Excel High School at the South Boston Education Complex will merge into one school in the fall of 2011, which will be called Excel High School. As this transition is taking place, students will continue to receive the appropriate academic program.

Special Features:
- A college preparatory school with a focus on technology
- A small school where the staff knows all the students and holds them accountable to achieve at high levels
- Winner of the 2007 EdVestors/Thomas W. Payzant School on the Move Prize as the most improved school in the district
- Advanced Placement courses in each discipline, with additional honors and enrichment courses such as engineering, NFTE, law and order, and African American music
- Technology courses including Microsoft Office, web design, webmaster, digital art, and animation
- Two fully-equipped computer labs and three mobile computer labs that travel to classrooms
- Internships at the Federal Reserve Bank

- Credit Recovery, an opportunity for juniors and seniors to make up failed courses after school in order to graduate
