Registration and Age Requirements For School Year 2008-2009

To apply for a seat in the Boston Public Schools, you must visit a Family Resource Center.
You will need to bring the following documents:
- THREE proofs of residency that meet the BPS residency policy, including a copy of your lease or mortgage deed and most recent payment (click here to visit the web page about the BPS Residency Policy).
List of acceptable proofs:
- For children entering Kindergarten or Grade 1, the child's original birth certificate (with raised seal) or passport
- Up-to-date immunization records (click here for more information).
- If using online pre-registration (BPSExpress), a printed confirmation form
Age Requirements
For all students new to the Boston Public Schools, the following age admission standard shall apply:

3 years of age by September 1, 2008 |
| Kindergarten 1 |
4 years of age by September 1, 2008 |
| Kindergarten 2 |
5 years of age by September 1, 2008 |
| Grade 1 |
6 years of age by September 1, 2008 |
We are sorry, but there are no exceptions to these requirements, including the
child's previous school experience.
