Are you an experienced, effective teacher who is looking for the next professional challenge? Are you looking for recognition as an excellent teacher? Are you looking to work with a collaborative team of like-minded peers? Are you ready to demonstrate the power of teaching to eliminate the achievement gap? If so, then applying to become a T3 teacher could be the next step in your career. Both Boston Public Schools teachers and teachers who currently teach outside the district are eligible to apply.
About the T3 Initiative
The T3 Initiative in Boston, a partnership between Teach Plus, the Boston Public Schools, and Unlocking Potential, is among the first efforts nationally to address the importance of effective, experienced teachers in the design of school turnaround.
A key piece of Superintendent Dr. Carol Johnson’s ambitious Acceleration Agenda -- the five year strategic plan for the Boston Public Schools -- is a focus on turning around chronically low-performing schools. These schools are the focus of intensive support and innovative strategies to enable them to significantly raise student outcomes.
Chosen for their effectiveness with urban students and trained as a cohort for the challenges of a turnaround environment, T3 teachers are now playing a central role in transforming three of Boston’s Turnaround Schools (the Blackstone, Orchard Gardens, and the Trotter). Next year, a new cohort of T3 teachers will help drive turnaround at three additional BPS schools:
- UP Academy Charter School, an in-district charter school
- The Dearborn Middle School, soon to become a 6-12 STEM school
- The Roger Clap Innovation School, formerly Roger Clap Elementary
As a T3 teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of effective teachers who are high performing and are dedicated to working collaboratively. You will be trained as a cohort in turnaround strategies that have been used by other highly effective teacher teams. You’ll be part of a broader turnaround strategy that supports effective teaching. You’ll be able to take on leadership roles without leaving the classroom. The T3 Initiative offers a path toward mastery in urban teaching.
