Winthrop Elementary School to help families navigate through challenging economic times

BOSTON – Students and parents at the Winthrop Elementary School will report to school this Saturday for a special event designed to help prepare them for a bright future.
“Thinking About the Future” will offer workshops to help children and adults prepare for college, career success, and financial stability.

35 Brookford St., Dorchester
Speakers from area colleges, corporations, public agencies, community-based organizations and other partners will lead sessions about a variety of topics, including:
• Getting ready for college
• Obtaining a professional license
• GED programs
• Scholarship opportunities for single mothers
• Managing your money
• Raising financially responsible children
• Starting your own business
Refreshments and child care will be provided. The first 50 families to arrive will receive a copy of “We Beat the Street,” a true story about three young men from Newark who became doctors.
