I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ingrid J. Carney as the new Deputy Superintendent for Clusters and Schools in Triad A. Several highly qualified candidates applied for this position. I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with each of the finalists individually and am extremely impressed with their qualifications and commitment to our work.

Dr. Carney has a distinguished 35-year career in public education reform, particularly in the area of school leadership development and support. For the past four years, she has served as Senior Executive Director of the Chicago Leadership Academies for Supporting Success (CLASS), which includes five leadership academies that serve more than 1,800 principals, administrators and teacher leaders working in the Chicago Public Schools. She also is President of the Illinois State Development Council (ISDC), the state affiliate of the National Staff Development Council.

Dr. Carney is a former Executive Director of the Leadership Academy and Urban Network for Chicago (LAUNCH) and Training Coordinator for Project CANAL (Creating a New Approach to Learning). She also had been a Probation Manager for Dodge Elementary School in the Chicago Public Schools Office of Accountability and the principal of Pullman Elementary School in Chicago. Dr. Carney is a former Assistant Superintendent for Human Resource Development in the Anderson Community School Corporation in Anderson, Indiana. She began her career in public education as a kindergarten teacher in Wichita, Kansas.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, a Master of Science degree in Administration and Supervision from Chicago State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Champaign.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Dr. Carney to the district to help lead our efforts in hiring, developing and supporting first-rate school leaders.
