Boston Public Schools announces new free parent-child Play to Learn groups for one-, two- and three-year-olds
BOSTON - Boston Public Schools (BPS) announces new free parent-child "Play to Learn" groups for children one, two and three years of age and their caregivers - parents, grandparents, and others - at four locations in Dorchester and Roxbury. Registration is ongoing and each site offers groups at a variety of days/times, including late afternoon and weekend options.
Each group meets weekly for two hours and offers opportunities for play, reading, singing, art, movement and other activities. Through these playgroups, families can learn about how toddlers grow and develop, meet other families, and get connected to community resources.
Registration is ongoing for groups at the following schools:
- Holmes Elementary (Dorchester) - See attached flyer.
- Kenny Elementary (Dorchester) - See attached flyer.
- Lee Elementary/Lee Academy (Dorchester) - See attached flyer.
- Tobin K-8/Tobin Community Center (Roxbury) - See attached flyer.
The new parent-child groups are part of the Play to Learn program, a collaboration among Countdown to Kindergarten, the Family Nurturing Center, Boston Public Schools, and ReadBoston. The four new locations bring to six the number of BPS sites citywide offering playgroups for families. Groups are also offered at the Early Learning Center West in Jamaica Plain and at the Winship Elementary in Brighton (this group is run by the Family Nurturing Center). A complete schedule is attached.
