More College and Career Information
A typical center has:
- Print materials such as college guides, job opportunity information such as the federal Occupational Outlook Handbook, financial assistance information, and magazines, catalogs, etc.
- Specialized computer software to supplement the print materials such as ExPan, a career and college research program.
- Career Videos
- Computers connected to the Internet.
Each center is a resource room where students can come to do individual research or come in groups for workshops on topics such as writing a resume, preparing college and financial aid applications, or researching career opportunities and related educational requirements for specific careers.
Guidance staff take turns as the center coordinator for a half or full day. Small group workshops are held by counselors.
Teachers may bring a class of students for academic related activities such as learning to write a business letter or resume. Some after-hours access is available in all centers.
